尼古丁（Nicotine），俗名烟碱，是一种有机化合物，化学式C10H14N2，有剧毒，是一种存在于茄科植物（茄属）中的生物碱，也是烟草的重要成分，还是N-胆碱受体激动药的代表，对N1和N2受体及中枢神经系统均有作用，无临床应用价值。尼古丁会使人上瘾或产生依赖性，重复使用尼古丁也增加心跳速率和升高血压并降低食欲。大剂量的尼古丁会引起呕吐以及恶心，严重时人会死亡。烟草中通常会含有尼古丁。电子烟也含有传统烟草的有害物质尼古丁。戒烟从现在开始，完全戒烟或逐渐减少吸烟次数的方法，通常3~4个月就可以成功。1. 丢掉所有的香烟、打火机、火柴和烟灰缸；避免参与往常习惯吸烟的场所或活动。2. 餐后喝水、吃水果或散步，摆脱饭后一支烟的想法。3. 烟瘾来时，要立即做深呼吸活动，或咀嚼无糖分的口香糖，避免用零食代替香烟，否则会引起血糖升高，身体过胖。4.坚决拒绝香烟的引诱，经常提醒自己再吸一支烟足以令戒烟的计划前功尽弃。
