胡志明市是越南的城市，名字来历：1975年4月30日越南共和国（南越）被北越政府推翻后，越共为纪念越南共产党的主要创立者胡志明，将西贡改为胡志明市（越南语为Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh（城铺胡志明），简称TPHCM。

英语翻成Ho Chi Minh City，简称HCMC；法文翻成Ho Chi Minh-Ville，简称HCMV），但西贡仍时常出现在公司名称、书的标题和语言研究中。

胡志明市风景名胜：

1、红教堂

红教堂位于百年邮局旁，因使用红砖建造，又称红教堂，是胡志明市最著名的地标。 红教堂的名字是缘于它红色的外表，圣母大教堂才是它的真名。

2、统一宫

1954年日内瓦协定签署，法国撤离越南，同年9月将“诺罗敦宫”移交给西贡吴庭艳伪政权，更名为“独立宫”。1962年7月27日，原属西贡伪政权的两名反战飞行员驾机向“独立宫”投弹，使其部分倒塌。

1962年底西贡伪政权进行重建，扩大了面积，并修建了坚固的防御设施，如地下室，可供直升飞机起落的屋顶平台等。

1975年4月30日，胡志明战役结束，西贡获得解放。根据越南国家统一政治协商会议决定，自1975年11月起，将“独立宫”更名为“统一宫”，作为越南人民争取独立统一意志的象征。

胡志明市隶属越南社会主义共和国。胡志明市原名西贡，1976年越南社会主义共和国成立，战胜的北越为纪念其政权建立者胡志明，将此地更名为胡志明市。

胡志明市旧称西贡市（越：Sài Gòn/赛贡），“西贡”一名，大约在明初才出现。从明成祖永乐三年至宣宗宣德八年，大明帝国曾派遣郑和七次下西洋。在这七次下西洋后，不少东西亚、中东沿海、东非等国家也向明国进行朝贡或贸易。

在当时，西贡便是西来朝贡船只停泊的一个港口。久而久之，这里就被称为“西贡”，有“西方来贡”的意思。1975年越南战争结束、两越统一。西贡纳入北越的军队保护之下，在美国此事件被称为西贡陷落，在越南被称为西贡解放。

1976年越南社会主义共和国成立，正式改称现名。胡志明市位于湄公河三角洲东北侧、西贡河右岸，东南距海口80公里，涨潮时两万吨级轮船可直驶市内。战争结束后，南北越于1976年7月2日完全统一，河内正式成为了这个统一的国家的首都。

胡志明市的风俗文化：

越南人注重礼节，见面时习惯打招呼问好，或点头致意，或行握礼手，或按法式礼节相互拥抱，年龄相近者多以兄弟姐妹相称。

越南深受汉文化影响，儒教扎根于社会。佛教早在东汉时期已由中国传入，主要为大乘佛教。目前，全国佛教徒1000多万人。此外，天主教已传入400多年教徒近600万人。

越南人普遍供奉祖先，迷信城隍，财神，一般民众家里都设有供台、香案、逢年过节在家中祭拜。

禁忌：忌讳三人合影、一根火柴或打火机连续给三个人点烟，视为不吉利；上香须三根；忌讳被人摸头顶；席地而坐时，忌别人把脚对着自己。入室做客，宜脱鞋，换上主人所备拖鞋。
