1. “百”hundred 有两种词性：数词和名词。如果需要表示某个具体的数量，就把它用作数词，这时不能变复数（只有名词有复数，数词没有复数！）。在百和十位数之间要加 and，在十位数和个位数之间要有连字符。例如：365 本书= three hundred and sixty-five books，2578 名学生= two thousnd five hundred and seventy-eight students。2. hundred 也可以用作名词，这时可以变复数加s，后面可以加介词 of。但不能表示具体的数量，只能表示大概，即“数以百计的”：There are hundreds of people in the park. 公园里有数以百计的人。

“百”有两种用法，第一种是当“百”这个数字前面有明确的数字时，不能加上-s，用单数形式。第二种是当“百”这个数字前面无明确的数字时，要加上-s，用复数形式，后加名词时，要先加上of再加复数名词，表示数以百计的，即hundreds of。另外，thousand、million、billion、trillion、quadrillion、quintillion、dozen和score也有这样的用法。

在英语中，用阿拉伯数字表示数量的时候，需要用到千位分隔符“，”，根据西方的习惯，在数字中加进一个符号，以免因数字位数太多而难以看出它的值。所以人们在数字中，每隔三位数加进一个逗号，也就是千位分隔符，以便更加容易认出数值。
