玩转电话交际英语
在当今社会中，打电话是日常交际的主要方式，它传递信息既快捷，又便利。在西方，有人把打电话形象地比喻为：“让你的手指头代你走路。“随着中国的入世，越来越多的外资企业将进入中国市场，我们与外商接触的机会随之增多。西方人是非常注重事前电话预约的。对于我们中国人来说，如何正确使用英语电话用语，才能达到预期的目的呢？
很多自以为能用英语进行简单会话的人，在面对用英语通电话的场合就会变得手忙脚乱，不知所措也是常见的事。其实，用英语打电话有一定的模式及惯用语，笔者简单归纳如下：
当你拿起话筒用英语打电话时，开头打招呼的第一个词便是Hello,Hello，不像中文中的“喂”可以连喊几声，挂电话打招呼时，只要说一次就够了。也可视情况说 Good morning (afternoon , evening)。习惯上，英语国家的人（特别是美国人）打电话一开始就自报姓名或自己的电话号码，甚至是工作单位或住址等等。如： “Hello ( Good morning ，…)、This is 2856123 ”（喂，你好，我这儿的电话号码是2856123。）或“ This is Marg’s phone or This is Mary speaking”（我是玛丽）。有的人在接电话时只回答Hello，而等待对方开始说话。但是这样做法必定地使对方提出“Is this 7856111？”（这是7856111电话吗？）或 “Is that Peter’s phone？”（这是彼得家吗？）这样的问题，势必导致双方在正式通话前花费不少时间与口舌。因此，不要只说Hello 而已，这一点与我们国内双方通话的情形相差甚远。
如果你发现对方要找的是另一个，或拨错了号码，这时，你最好能重复一下你的电话号码，然后告诉对方 “Sorry you’ve dialed the wrong unmber ”（对不起，你拨错号了。）或简单回答：“Sorry wrong number，”不要一声不响地就挂断电话。同样，若是我们自己拨错了号码也该简单地向对方说：“Sorry ，(I’ve dialed) wrong number，”再挂断电话。
用中文打电话或接电话时，可以问：“你是谁？”但用英语通话时，则千万不可以问：“Who are you？”问对方是哪一位时，可以用以下几种方式：
Who’s that / who’s speaking , please? 请问你是谁？
Whom an I speaking to ? 跟我通话的是谁？
May I have your name ?我可以问你的名字吗？
Is that you , … ? / Is … there, please?某某在吗？
回答对方问话或自我介绍时，可用This is … It’s …speaking . It is (Mary) here / Hello , Mary here . This is 3132459 等等，不能用“I am ….”如果对方找的正是本人，可用“ Yes ,speaking ”即可。
转告某人接电话时，可用“You’re wanted on the phone ”或“Someone wants you on the phone（有人打电话找你）。也可说“There’s telephone call for you”（有你的电话）。
如果此人就在身边时可以说“It’s for you , Tom .”或“For you Tom”（汤姆，找你的），若来电话时对方要找的人正在隔壁房间或在别处办事，你接了电话以后要过去叫他，请对方稍等一下时，可用Hold on (the time)please, Hold on a moment , please, just a moment, please, Don’t hang uplease 等。如果来电话要找的人一时无法找到，应尽快回答对方，并最后询问对方是否愿意留下口信。这时可用“May I take a message for you？”（我可以给你带个口信吗？）或者“Would you like to leave a message？”（你要留吗？）反之亦然，若是你打电话给某人，对方恰巧不在，你也可以要求接电话的`人带个口信或留个便条，就说：“Could you take a message for me please ？”然后你可酌情简单地向接话者说：“Please tell him that I want to speak to him 。”（请转告他我有事要告诉他），或“Tell him that I called（告诉他我来过电话）也可说：“Will you please tell him to call me back later？”（请你告诉他回个电话给我，好吗？）
当然，打电话也并非尽善尽美，也有其烦人之时。譬如，你给某人打去电话时，对方正忙得很。你最好礼貌地表示一下歉意，可以说：“I am sorry to make a phone call to you when you are very busy ”。（你现在正是很忙的时候，我却打电话给你，很对不起）。如果你有十分紧急的事需打电话给某人，又是清晨或半夜了，可以说：“I am
sorry to have called you so early ,but……“（这么早打电话给你，对不起，但是……）。Sorry to have waked you wp
(对不起，把你吵醒了)。“I am sorry to have called you at such a late time but ……”（这么晚打电话给你，真对不起，但是……）
如果在打电话或接听电话时，中途为了某事而不得不暂时中断与对方的通话，需请对方等候一下时，可以说：“Excuse me 或
Excuse me for a moment”（对不起，请稍等一下），再次拿起话筒时，自然要向对方道歉，应该说：“I am sorry to have kept you waiting so long ”（很抱歉让您久等了）。熟人之间也可以直接说：“Are you still there ”？（你还听着吗？）。
结束通话时，可以说：“Call me at any time”（随时打电话来），“Please say hello to everyone ”（请代我向大家问好），“Nice talking to you ”（很高兴与你通话）等等。电话中的告别一般用Good bye ！或See you ！
另外，电话号码在英语中的读法。一般按号码的顺序读数字的读音即可。数字0，即可读作Zero，连在一起的相同的数字还可读成double…。 如 读作zero double seven one five six seven eight nine zero zero 询问对方电话号码时，可以说 Could you tell me your telephone number ？ What’s your number？ Can you tell me his home number等。
最后，笔者列举一段英语电话会话实例以供读者参阅：

A Man: I’d like to speak to the manager please.
James: Hold the line, please. I’ll see if he is around. Linda, It’s for the manager. Do you know where he is now？
Linda: I think he has gone out and won’t be back for quite a while.
James: Hello ,Sir. The manager isn’t in at the moment. Can I take a message？
The man:oh！yes , please. Just tell him I’ll expect his call at 10 this evening. My number is 4856659,Thanks.
詹姆斯：你好！这里是约翰逊公司，我能帮忙吗？
A Man：我想找你们经理。
詹姆斯：请稍等一下，我看他在不在。林达，是找经理的，你知道他去哪了？

（一）、 中国人与英美人打电话有很大差异。用英语打电话要掌握以下几点： 1. 打电话人接通电话后可说：Hello ！ 接着说：This is sb.speaking./Could（May）I speak to sb.?/Is sb.in? 但不能问：Whoare you？接电话人可说：Hello！Good morning/afternoon/ evening.紧接着 将自己的电话号码或姓名告诉对方。如：（This is ） 3531968./This is Jim speaking. 2. 问对方是谁， 不说：Who are you ？ 而应说：Who's thatspeaking（calling）?/May I have y our name? /Is that sb. （speaking）？ 3.代人接电话，最好说：What name shall I give?/Who shall Isay is calling? 若要离开去叫人， 须跟对方说：Hold the line,please.I'll get him/her to phone.（别挂断，我就去找他（她）听电话。 ）或Hold on for a moment.（请等一会儿。）反之， 若电话要找的人在身边，代接电话的人可说：It's for you.或For you. （你的电话。） 4. 如果打电话要找的人不在， 代接电话的人可说：Sorry,he/she isn't in.或I'm afraid he/she is o ut.（他／她不在。）如果问对方是否要留话，说：May I take a message for you? /Can Itake a messag e?/Would you like to leave a message?打电话者若要拜托接电话人转告要找的人某事时， 可问：Couldyou take a message for me?/Please tell him （her）that（sth.）……./Tell him（her）I called./Will you please tell him （her）to c all me back later? 5.若对方打错电话，接电话者可说：Sorry,you've dialedthe wrong number. 打电话人发现拔错号码， 应说：Sorry,I'vedialed the wrong number. 6.若电话的线路忙或有问题，可说：The line is busy. （占线。）The line is dead.（断线。）（二）、电话对答 情况 (一) 打电话的人找的是你自己 对方：Is David there? David 在吗? 你可以回答：Speaking. 我就是。 This is he. 我就是。 (注: 女的用 "This is she.") You're speaking/talking to him. 你正在跟他说话。 (注: 女的用 "You're speaking/talking to her.") This is David. 我就是 David。 That's me. 我就是。 情况 (二) 打电话的人要找的人不在 对方：May I speak to Mr. Liu? 请问 Gates 先生在吗? 你可以回答： He's not here right now. 他现在不在这里。 He's out. 他出去了。 He's in a meeting right now. 他现在正在开会。 You've just missed him. 你刚好错过他了。 He's just stepped out. 他刚好出去了。 情况 (三) 打电话的人要找的人不在, 问对方是否要留言 对方：Can I talk to David? 我可以跟David讲话吗? 你可以回答： He's out on his lunch break right now. Would you like to leave a message? 他出去吃午饭了, 你要留言吗? He's not available right now. Can I take a message? 他不在, 我可以帮你传话吗? 情况 (四) 打电话的人问他要找的人何时回来 对方：Do you know when he will be back? 你知道他什么时候会回来吗? 你可以回答： I'm sorry. I don't know. 抱歉, 我不知道。 I have no idea. 我不知道。 He should be back in 20 minutes. 他应该二十分钟内会回来。 情况 (五) 打电话的人问他要找的人在哪里 对方：Do you have any idea where he is? 你知道他在哪里吗? 你可以回答： Sorry. I don't know. 抱歉, 我不知道。 He's at work right now. Do you want his phone number? 他现在在上班。你要不要他的电话号码? 情况 (六) 打电话的人要找的人不在, 愿意接受对方的留言 对方：Can I leave a message? 我可以留个话吗？ 你可以回答： Yes. Go ahead, please. 可以, 请继续。 Of course. Hold on for just a second so I can grab a pen and paper. 当然, 稍等一下让我拿个纸笔。 Sure, if you can excuse me for just a second. Let me find a piece of paper to write it down. 当然, 如果你可以等我一下下, 让我找张纸写下来。 情况 (七) 接受对方留言时听不清楚, 希望对方重复 对方：When he comes back, can you have him call me at (206) 5551212? 他回来后, 能不能让他打 (206) 5551212 这个号码给我? 你可以回答： Can you repeat again, please? 能不能请你再重复一次? (Say) Again, please? 再说一次好吗? Pardon? 抱歉。(请再说一次) Come again, please? 再说一次好吗? I'm sorry? 抱歉。(请再说一次) 情况 (八) 对方希望留话, 怕听错了, 不想接受对方的留言 对方：May I leave a message? 我能否留个话? 你可以回答： You know what? My English is not that great, and I don't want to miss anything. Would you mind calling back later? I'm sorry. 你知道吗? 我的英文不是非常好, 我不想听错话。你介意稍后再打来吗? 我很抱歉。 If you don't mind, could you please call back and leave a message on the answering machine? My English is not very good. 如果你不介意的话, 能否请你再打一次, 然后在录音机上留言? 我的英文不是很好。 情况 (九) 打电话的人要找的人是别人, 请对方稍等 对方：Is David there? David在吗? 你可以回答： Yes, he is. One moment, please. 他在。请稍等。 Hold, please. 请稍等。 Hold on, please. 请稍等。 Let me see if he's here. Hang on. O.K.? 我看看他在不在。等一下, 好吗? 情况 (十) 对方打错电话 对方：Can I speak to Jasmine Deng? 我可以和Jasmine Deng说话吗? 你可以回答： Jasmine Deng? I'm sorry, but there's nobody here by this name. Jasmine Deng? 抱歉, 这里没这个人。 I'm sorry. I'm afraid you've got the wrong number. 抱歉, 恐怕你打错电话。 What number did you dial? 你打几号? 情况 (十一) 如果对方要求和(打电话的人)刚刚已经通过话的人再讲话 对方：Can you put David back on? I forgot to tell him something.你能否请David再来听电话呢? 我忘了跟他讲一件事。 你可以回答：Sure. I'll go get him. 当然! 我这就去叫他 情况 (十二) 如果你打电话，电话没人接(或录音机)，你可以说： Is he there? 他在吗? No one is there. 没人在。 Nobody answered. 没人接。 No. I got the answering machine. 没有! 是录音机。 情况 (十三) 电话打不通，你可以说： Did it go through? (电话)打通了吗? The line was busy. 电话忙线。 I got the busy signals.. 电话忙线。 情况 (十四) (因自己忙等原因)请别人去接电话，你可以说： Jasmine, can you answer the phone? I'm busy. Jasmine, 你能不能去接电话? 我在忙。 Can you get it, Jasmine? My hands are tied. Jasmine, 你能不能去接电话? 我现在不能接。 情况 (十五) 如果你接到无人电话(就是打来了却不说话的那种) 某人问：Who called? 谁打来的? 你可以回答：No one. He hung up on me. 没人。他把电话挂了。 Wrong number, I guess. He hung up without saying a word. 打错了, 我想。他一句话也没说就把电话挂了。 电话留言 Hi! This is David. I can't come to the phone at this time. 以自我介绍开始电话交谈： "Hello, this is Peter Jones. 如果你在接电话的时候对方没有表明他是谁，你可以说："May I ask who's calling, please?" Asking for someone / Making a request 如果你打电话给特定的某人的话，那么你得用礼貌的问句来表达意图，例如"May I speak to Rachel Smith, please?"当你只知道分机号码却不知道人名的时候你可以说："Could I have extension number 635?" 但如果打电话是有特定的目的，那最好是这么说："I’m calling to make a reservation." Holding and transferring "Please hold"是电话语言中表示 “等一下”的意思。当你需要transferred（转接）到另一部分机，你常会听到："Connecting your call..."或者"Please hold, I'll transfer you."。“如果你是在繁忙时段拨打某公司电话时，在接线员将你转到另一条线之前，你可能会听到简短的一句话。"Hello, please hold!" Leaving a message 当你打电话的对方不在或不能接听电话时，那就准备留言吧。你可以使用voicemail（电子录音系统）或一部answering machine（在磁带上录音的一种机器）。如果你正和接线员讲话的话，他们会问："Would you like to leave a message?"或者你可以说， "May I leave a message?如果想要对方回电话的话，千万别忘了留你的电话号码。这被称作call back number。 Asking the speaker to slow down 如果你不确定你能听懂所有的英语对话，一定要坦诚、直接告诉对方："My English isn't very strong, could you please speak slowly?" 大部分的人会赞许你的诚实并很高兴这么做。 Write it down 如果你觉得用英语打电话还有点紧张的话，把要讲的事先写下来将会对你很有帮助。写出你需要讲的内容大纲。你可以使用此提纲事先组织你的语言并且如果在通话过程中有任何疑问的话也能作为借鉴。 Remember your manners 在通话中使用文明礼貌的语言是非常重要的。在请求别人时，请使用类似的短语， 'Could you'，和'Please' 。并且总是记得以'Thank you'和'Goodbye'结束通话！

Who is that speaking? 这类句子中的that换成 this。4. 在接电话时，若发现对方拨错了号码或他要找的人是别人，一般应再重复一下自己的电话号码或姓名，告诉对方：Sorry, (you’ve dialed the) wrong number (对不起，你拔错号码了)，然后再挂上电话；同样若是你自己拔错了号码，你也应说一声 Sorry, ( I’ve dialed the) wrong number. (对不起，拔错号码了)。
