英语课堂教学上教师纠错方式有三种，他们是直接纠错、间接纠错和集体纠错。直接纠错侧重教师在开展机械性的词汇教学的语音操练阶段，侧重语言精准输出。
在这一阶段如果学生语音发音错误，需要教师直接纠错，把错误止于源头，免得后期难以改正。但提倡教师在课堂上更多使用间接纠错，间接纠错更具人文性特征，更容易被学生欣然接受。
间接纠错是指学生出现语言错误后教师不直接予以纠正，而是间接提醒学生使用正确的语言形式，间接纠错包括含蓄纠错、扩展纠错及重述纠错。
1、含蓄纠错(Implict correction)
含蓄的纠正 是指教师不直接指出错误，而是通过与学生的不间断对话，通过强化或抬高音调，引起学生注意，让学生感受到正确的语言表达，纠正其错误的语言表达形式。
例如：
T: When did you get home last night?
S: I get home at 7:00 pm.
T: You say you got（强化此词的语音）home at 7:00pm last night. I am sorry! When did you get home last night?
S: I got home at 7:00 last night.
2、扩展纠错(Expansion)
扩展句子常用到词组或举行表达方面的操练活动。是指教师不直接指出错误，而是围绕句型拓展造句，在师生对话中纠正学生的错误。同时也需要教师强化正确语言的表达。
例如，教师在操练复习 sb.be interested in这个词组时,通过拓展句子间接纠错的技巧，纠正了学生的错误，容易被学生欣然接受。
S: I am very interesting in music.
T: Are you? That' sgood. I am very interested in music, too. And I am especially interested（强化此词的语音）in classical music. How about you?
What popular music are you interested in, classical music or modern music?
S: I am especially interested in modern music.
T: Super! sb.be interested in...
3、重述纠错
有些错误是由于学生口误或粗心或操练没有达到自动化程度而产生的。此时需要教师稍加启发或引导，重述强调暗示正确的语言表达，引起学生的注意，学生就会自我纠正自己的错误。
T: Class! Who can make a sentence with the word " news"?
S: I have a news to tell you.
T: A piece of good news? Really?
S: Oh, yes. I have a piece of good news to tell you.
T: Thank you. You've done a good job.
纠错注意事项：
1、心态
首先，教师应该对学生在课堂教学中所的错误有充分的准备和良好的心态，不要大惊小怪或指责学生，因学生的IQ、EQ均不同，学习效果也不一样，需要教师有耐心。更何况有时造成某些语言错误的非学生所责。
如一旦出现全班通错（即：非学困生犯错，学困生更犯错）的错误，教师要反思一下自己的教学方式和方法。
造成全班学生都没有教会的原因在于教师本身，所以在此情况下，不要责备学生，要马上临时调控课堂教学活动，简言之：换另一种方式方法重新教学，直至把学生教会为止。
2、 氛围
教师要在学生中尽量创造轻松愉悦的纠错气氛，学习英语非一朝一夕就能够学成的，学生犯错难免，需要教师鼓励学生，给学生以勇气改正错误，大胆用英语表达，在错误中学习英语，知错必改，不断进步。
3、累积
教师在课堂教学中要善于捕捉学生表达中的错误，这些错误其实也就是教师的教学难点，难点来自于学生，重点来自于教材，教师要做智慧型教师，善于积累和归纳学生的错点，适当处理。
4、专业
教师在纠错过程中，是一种临时调控课堂教学的展示，需要教师自身的专业素养能力要达到一定的水平，需要教师在纠错过程中要突出实践性、实效性，帮助学生顺利完成训练和表达。
5、适度
教师要尽量做到启发学生自我纠正，鼓励学生思考，启发学生主动判断，师生对话具有交际性。鼓励学生参与教学活动中，进行语言训练和语言实践的积极性。
教师在纠错过程中纠错的目的性要强、不是见错就纠，特别是在读后教学活动或值日生报告活动中，学生如果在进行口语陈述故事或概要或在黑板前个人展示作品或集体展示对话作品时。
教师切记不要纠错，打扰学生的英语语言流利输出。教师可在活动结束后，单独对学生进行纠错。
