规则变化如下:
1) 单音节形容词的比较级和最高级形式是在词尾加 -er 和 -est 构成.

2) 以 -e 结尾的单音节形容词的比较级和最高级是在词尾加 -r 和 -st 构成.
wide (原级) (比较级) (最高级)
3)少数以-y,-er,-ow,-ble结尾的双音节形容词的比较级和最高级是在词尾加 -er 和 -est 构成.

英语单词五步法
一、读单词
每次选出5个生词为一组，依次朗读每个单词的发音、拼写和中文意思，重复三遍，再把英文抄在纸上。
二、写中文
根据所抄英文，不准看书，凭记忆在另一张纸上写出单词的中文意思。订正后，把没写对的单词重复第一步的操作;然后将这组单词重复第二步操作，直到全对为止。
三、写单词
把每个单词正确的中文意思以及首字母抄在纸上，不准看书，凭记忆和首字母提示，在另一张纸上写出单词。订正后，把没写对单词的原因写出来，然后重复这步操作，重新汉译英，直到全对为止。
四、全对
将这组单词的中文意思重新写在纸上(不写首字母)，不准看书，凭记忆在另一张纸上写出单词。订正后，写出错因，在重复这步操作，直到全对为止。
五、变单词
将这组单词根据词性特点进行变化，名词变成复数形式，动词变成各种时态形式，形容词和副词变成比较级和最高级形式，代词根据三种人称、单复数变成相应形式等等。
