Calligraphy: Chinese calligraphy is an ancient art form of writing Chinese characters. Developing from Jiaguwen, characters carved on ox scapula and tortoise plastron, to the cursive signs Jinwen (bronze script), and later Dazhuan(Large Seal Script), Xiaozhuan (Small Seal Script), Lishu Style(clerical script), to the more regularized style Caoshu (grass script), Kaishu(traditional regular script), Xingshu (running script) in East Han Dynasty, Wei and Jin Dynasty, Chinese calligraphy retains its fascination as a form of art. Chinese character is not only one among the most ancient words in the world, but acknowledged as one of the most difficult to learn. The reason is that one Chinese character is not necessarily responded to one sound, sometimes even to three different sounds. Moreover, many of those characters are pictography, or phonogram, which means lots of characters look or sound the same. No wonder why Chinese character is so difficult! Grounding on abundant traits of Chinese characters, calligraphy as art form of which, with its cultural heritage descended from ancient intellectuals, is amazement cannot put into words. An ink brush, sipping a drip of ink, casts stokes, turns, accelerates, and ends with a sudden press. Born with the dazzling Preface to the Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion by Wang Xizhi, born with the Four Treasures of the Study, born with the dynamic Seal Cutting —all these add a shining leaf for the Chinese calligraphy.
