西安钟楼始建于明洪武十七年(1384年)，原址在今西大街广济街口，与鼓楼对峙。昔日楼上悬一口大钟，用于报警报时，故名"钟楼"。The bell tower of Xi'an was built in Ming Hongwu for seventeen years (1384).
