“自粘式防水卷材”是有区别于热熔法粘贴卷材、全空铺机械固定法铺贴卷材、胶粘剂粘贴铺贴卷材的一种防水卷材，他的特点是：防水卷材在一定要求的基面上，可以直接粘贴而不需要其他辅助材料和工具。一类自粘卷材的粘结性来自卷材本体材料的性能，如无胎自粘卷材，其整个卷材的改性沥青自身就是具有自粘性能。另一类自粘卷材是属于带自粘层的防水卷材，可以说，任何防水卷材涂上胶粘层，均可具有自粘性，这类材料的物理性能是与原本体一致，只是施工工艺变为自粘而已。自粘胶可以是沥青类的，也可以是丙烯酯类、丁基橡胶类或其他粘结剂，有点像胶粘带、压敏胶带的性质。自粘卷材原本只是指本体自粘类防水卷材，他的作用除了施工工艺的改变外，很重要的是，自粘卷材具有蠕变性，解决了防水卷材在基层开裂的情况下，卷材受拉产生内应力，使防水卷材在应力状态下加速老化破坏的问题。前二种属改性沥青类防水卷材，后一种属高分子防水卷材。一、“沥青基聚酯胎防水卷材”名称错误，这不是一种材料，是一类材料。1、改性沥青类卷材通常不用“基”字；2、聚酯胎为了增加改性沥青卷材拉伸强度而设置，普遍用于改性沥青卷材中；3、在SBS卷材、APP卷材、自粘卷材等卷材中都可以有聚酯胎类型。二、“自粘聚合物改性沥青防水卷材”是指符合GB 23441（2009）材料标准的卷材。他包括了无胎（N）类各聚酯胎（PY）类。外表类似于SBS防水卷材，但要软一点，施工时不用火热熔，可以自粘施工，有的还可以用水泥胶浆湿铺施工。三、“高分子自粘胶膜防水卷材”是指符合GBT 23260（2009）《带自粘层的防水卷材》中高分子卷材类材料。这类材料实际上是在原有的材料上，复合了一层自粘胶，施工工艺改变为自粘施工。三元乙丙卷材、PVC卷材、SBS卷材等都可在一个面上复合自粘胶。对这类材料的性能以原来主体材料的标准，如自PVC材料的性能还是按PVC卷材标准检测，再加上按本标准进行粘结性能的检测，二个方面都要达到要求。
