香港的“中一”相当于内地的七年级（初中一年级）。15岁的香港学生，读中一年龄偏大，一般读中三。
朗文词典再一次的创举是首次发明并采用了语法代码。这套精密的语法代码参考了《现代英语文法》《传意式英语文法》、伦敦大学的“英语用法调查”等现代语言学研究的成果。
使读者可以轻松地掌握词汇并能综合使用，丰富知识。英国著名语言学家Randolph Quirk称这本辞典“既讲究简明，又体现了综合，堪称辞典编纂的一大贡献”。
作为世界通用语言的英语，第一部英语辞典问世于1755年，即英国朗文公司出版的《英语语言词典》（Dictionary of the English Language），共收词43 500个，文史引语118 000条，发展到本世纪末，270多年历史的朗文已然拥有难以数计的读者，其最为著名的便是词典。
1978年的《朗文当代英语辞典》（Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English）第一版曾开创先河，以2000个浅显易懂的核心单词诠释所有的词条，并以此在语义的分析方面有独到的创见，受辞典界、语言界、教育界和翻译界的人士所推崇。

Yesterday, after a long meeting in the class, all the students had been told about the safe issues, then the summer vacation finally came.
