二、用法不同
1、panther：黑豹（Panthera pardus fusca）是豹的黑色型变种。其分布于马来西亚、泰国和印度等地，属热带湿润森林动物。黑豹耳短，尾长70～95cm，体重50～55kg，体黄褐色，并有许多黑色空心斑块。
2、puma：美洲豹，学名：Panthera onca (Linnaeus, 1758)，又叫美洲虎，是现存第三大的猫科动物。体重70—180千克，咬力可达1250磅。是生活在中南美洲的一种大型猫科动物。它身上的花纹比较像豹，但整个身体的形状又更接近于虎。在猫科动物中，美洲豹的体型仅次于狮、虎。野外寿命约18年。人工饲养的历史达20多年。
3、cougar：美洲狮（学名：Puma concolor）：又称美洲金猫，大小和花豹相仿，但外观上没有花纹且头骨较小。体长130-200厘米，尾长约100厘米，肩高55-80厘米，体重35-100千克，为猫亚科中最大者。雄性比雌性大近1倍。躯体均匀，四肢中长，趾行性。头大而圆，吻部较短，视、听、嗅觉均很发达。
