Second, try to know the topic of the material before listening. Third, try to focus on sentences or at least phrases instead of single words while listening.
Then, they had better take some notes of key information, such as numbers, dates, times, directions, places and so on.
At last, they may listen to some English songs to amuse themselves as well as practise listening.
They can begin with nersery rhythes with texts, because they are simple and easy to understand.
And it is quite useful to read the materials again and again after reading. Remember that the more you practice, the more you will gain!

大家要是有搜索过的，就别看楼上的，千万别看，语法错误太多了。我的水平也不行，但是我改过的这个比他强多少N倍，有语法错误欢迎大家指正，看我这篇吧，比他那个强。After competition and meditation,as far as I am concerned , there are many ways improve English Listening by this class. First thing first, it is very important to practice and do more English listening practice. More over, if there is a chance, then you should listen more dialugoe in English, English News, English movies. Learning English songs are also a good way. At last but by no means least.,the most important thing is not afraid to speak English, speaking English aloud. I firmly believe that you should listen the essay that you are interesting in . For example , Chinese international radio or BBC. If your accent is not good , you should listen some programs that have a good accent and speak not quickly . Only practice more ,can we improve our listening ability.

英语听力竞赛 今天是星期天，我们报了英语听力竞赛的同学星期天上午8：30到9：30要去学校考试，全县的选手也都集中在我们学校参加这次英语竞赛。大家星期六都在家里认真的复习，早些时候我们的英语老师毛老师也在给我们提供辅导，进行英语竞赛的考试准备。今天，这个让人激动而紧张的时刻终于来到了。我被安排三（7）班教室，和许多被安排在同一考室的同学一起，我们走进了三（7）班考室，找到了自己的位置，等待着监考老师的和考试的到来。 考试终于开始了，大家都在认真地听着录音机播放的听力材料，没有发出一点声音，仔细辩听着录音机里传出的每一个单词和每一句句子，生怕错过一个发间。教室里除了录音机里的朗读声，再也听不到任何声响了。我也大家一样，盯着试卷，听着录音，专心致志地答着每一道题目。时间过得很快，快要结束了，试题也已经听到了最后一题。最后一题对于我来说很难，我就听到了一个单词该怎么写，其他的我全是蒙的。看来，平时还得多练习积累才行！ 考试结束的广播响起，终于熬到了考试结束。同学们陆陆续续地走出教室，他们三五成群地向操场走去，一边走，还一边对着答案。我听到班上的几个同学正和别班的几个同学大声地讨论着这次考试的题目，他们也大部分都是最后一题不会做，看来，这题真是难倒了大家啊！
