当前，英语教师的口语素养在英语教学的课堂上变得越来越重要。一位名师一开口，流利纯正的英语，立刻能吸引听课的每一位老师，反之，即使你的课上得再好，教学设计理念新颖，但教师的英语口语不纯、不准，相信听者都会在心底里为之推敲：这能不能算是一节好课。 英语教师的口语素养是教师的最基本素养之一，其口语水平的高低在很大程度上能影响所教学生的英语口语能力，常常走进教室听学生集体朗读的语音语调就能听出是哪位老师所任教的学生，因此就更显现出教师口语素养在教学过程中的重要性了。 但是，面对在校期间的现状：早上几乎每天都要进班早读，平时要忙于备课、上课、反思、批改作业、辅导后进生等一系列教学工作，在上班时间内已很少能挤出时间学习英语口语。这就需要英语教师们挤时间，象挤海绵里的水一样，让每分每秒都能发挥它的功效。 譬如在学生读书的时候，教师也可以和学生们一起，模仿教材配套录音的语音语调；在学生完成听力的时候，模仿听力材料中人物的对话。只要做个有心人，身边也能找到可学的素材。 当然，在学校里充电的时间是有限的，利用自己的业余时间，才能更好地、有系统性地进行口语训练，准备一本教材、相关的语音材料以及制定相应的计划并按照其严格执行，我想，这样才能在循序渐进的过程中得到成长。 前几年，每年暑假期间，学校都为英语组的教师提供平台，参加了市里组织的英语口语培训。在培训过后的短期时间内，教师的口语水平也都得到了相应的提高，这得益于外教以及所给予的很好的英语语言学习环境。但同时也提醒我们：英语口语素养需要在不断地学习中才会得以提高，否则将不进则退。
