ghost是指鬼魂,幽灵。一般普遍意义上的鬼都可以用它。 evil是恶魔,邪恶的。这个很带有些西方宗教上的意味,而且突出“邪恶”这一特色。 devil也是恶魔,魔鬼,恶棍等意思。 phantom是幻影的魔鬼。比如《歌剧院魅影》里面的那个“鬼魅”就被叫做phantom. spook是幽灵。个人以为指那种很有气氛的鬼。比如鬼影飘过啦,气氛很阴森恐怖的时候就会用这个词的形容词形式:spooky。 spirit是指灵魂,也有妖精的意思。 apparition也是鬼怪的意思,所有离奇出现的东西比如鬼什么的都可以。不过我个人没怎么见过这个词啦。 另外还有些妖魔鬼怪的词: bogey是妖怪。可怕的怪物。人常用bogey-man表示那种阴森可怕的人。 monster很熟悉吧,是怪物、怪兽的意思。一般那种不是人形的妖怪就可以用它。 demon是恶魔,魔鬼。我觉得跟devil挺象的。 goblin也是挺出名的一种妖怪。音译就是“哥布林”,一种在欧洲广为流传的小妖精。性情顽皮,长相丑陋的小鬼。 Old Nick是妖魔,特别指撒旦这个大魔王。 还有许多妖魔鬼怪是有它们特定的名字的,比如塞壬(syren)、美杜莎(Medusa)等等。有兴趣的话不妨去找希腊神话雅典神话只类的读读,很有趣味的。
