在现阶段部分省市人口总量下降的状况下，沈阳市却实现了人口逆势持续增长状态。据沈阳市统计局网站发布的关于第7次全国人口普查数据的分析文章内容显示，沈阳2020年常住人口达到907万人，比2010年增加96.4万人，年平均增长1.13%，远高于全国平均数据，而且沈阳人口占全省人口比重有所提升，从18.53%提升至21.30%。

从沈阳统计局发布的各项数据当中，我们能明显看出在全省乃至东三省人口负增长的大背景之下，沈阳市人口却出现了逆势持续增长。这无疑是一个值得探讨的话题，对于其他人口减少城市有一定借鉴意义。

有相关专家告知记者，从人口全国空间布局来看，中部、西北、东北等地人口仍在向东南沿海聚集，但在各省域内部同样出现中小城市和农村人口向城市中心流动的现象。

沈阳之所以能实现人口逆势增长，原因就在于其作为东北地区重要的中心城市，对于周边人口的吸引力是很大的，不仅吸引了省内其他地市人口前来，而且吸引了许多附近省份的人口流入。根据沈阳统计局数据显示，沈阳常住人口中外来流动人口规模达到205.1万人，占常住人口总数的22.61%，与2010年相比较增长幅度达126.13%。

这一数据能充分说明沈阳作为中心城市对于外来人口的巨大吸引力，也是沈阳人口逆势增长的最重要原因。
