大运河(Grand Canal)是世界上最长的人工河，北起北京，南至杭州。它是中国历史上最宏伟的工程之一。大运河始建于公元前4世纪，公元13世纪末建成。修建之初是为了运输粮食，后来也用于运输其他商品。大运河沿线区域逐渐发展成为中国的工商业中心。长久以来，大运河对中国的经济发展发挥了重要作用，有力地促进了南北地区之间的人员往来和文化交流。The Grand Canal is the longest man-made river which ex-tends all the way from Bejing in the north to Hangzhou in the south, and one of the grandest projects in the Chinese history. The construction of the canal was started in the 4th century BC and was completed in the 13th century. It was first built for grain transportation and later also for trans-portation of other commodities. The areas along the canal have gradually developed into the industrial and commercial centres of China. 大运河，就是京杭大运河，英文The Grand Canal。京杭大运河始建于春秋时期，是历经世界上里程最长、工程最大的古代运河，也是最古老的运河之一，与长城、坎儿井并称为中国古代的三项伟大工程，并且使用至今。相关知识：京杭大运河是中国古代劳动人民创造的一项伟大工程，是中国文化地位的象征之一。大运河南起余杭（今杭州），北到涿郡（今北京），途经今浙江、江苏、山东、河北四省及天津、北京两市，贯通海河、黄河、淮河、长江、钱塘江五大水系，主要水源为微山湖，大运河全长约1797公里。运河对中国南北地区之间的经济、文化发展与交流，特别是对沿线地区工农业经济的发展起了巨大作用。春秋吴国为伐齐国而开凿邗沟，隋朝大幅度扩修并贯通至都城洛阳且连涿郡，元朝翻修时弃洛阳而取直至北京。开凿到现在已有2500多年的历史。2014年6月22日，第38届世界遗产大会宣布，中国大运河项目成功入选《世界文化遗产名录》，成为中国第46个世界遗产项目。（内容源自网络）
