1、far的基本意思是“远”，可指距离的远，也可指时间的远。指距离时，一般用于否定句或疑问句，在肯定句中，多用a long way代替far。但far如位于too或so之后，则可以用于肯定句；与其他副词或介词连用时，也可以用于肯定句。far不与kilometre等表示确切距离的词语连用。

在表示肯定的词句中a long way要比far更常见。a long way away也要比far away常见：
