Lesson 1 A private conversation Last week I went to the theatre. I had a very good seat. The play was very interesting. I did not enjoy it. A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me. They were talking loudly. I got very angry. I could not hear the actors. I turned round. I looked at the man and the woman angrily. They did not pay any attention. In the end, I could not bear it. I turned round again. ‘I can't hear a word!’ I said angrily. ‘It's none of your business, ’ the young man said rudely. ‘This is a private conversation!’ Notes on the text 课文注释 1 go to the theatre,去看戏。 5 I could not bear it. 6 none of your business,不关你的事。 Lesson 2 Breakfast or lunch? It was Sunday. I never get up early on Sundays. I sometimes stay in bed until lunchtime. Last Sunday I got up very late. I looked out of the window. It was dark outside. ‘What a day!’ I thought. ‘It's raining again. ’ Just then, the telephone rang. It was my aunt Lucy. ‘I've just arrived by train, ’ she said. ‘I'm coming to see you. ’ ‘But I'm still having breakfast, ’ I said. ‘What are you doing?’ she asked. ‘I'm having breakfast, ’ I repeated. ‘Dear me, ’ she said. ‘Do you always get up so late? It's one o'clock!’ Notes on the text 课文注释 1 on Sundays,指每个星期日。 2 What a day! What a day it is! 3 I'm coming to see you. 4 Dear me!

就和be in touch with是保持联系,get in touch with是取得联系的情况差不多。I got very angry中angry是修饰I的,我怎么了? 而they were talking loudly中loudly是修饰talking的,所以划分的内容不同。 3. because i couldn't hear the actors中couldn't 是强调不能听到,是说如果没有外界干扰就能够听到了。 i couldn't hear the actors what said这句话语法不对,应该改成i couldn't hear what the actors said。4. I turned round. I looked at the man and the woman angrily. 改成i turned round to see a young man and a young woman angrily后就成了我转过身,目的是为了很愤怒地看他们,感觉很奇怪。5. A young man and a young woman didn't pay any attention to the writer. 或者A young man and a young woman paid no attention to the writer.这和 I don't have a sister. I have no sisters.
