演讲的要素就是指Presenting Skills(演说技巧)，一共有12个要素：

(1)Know your topic(知道你要讲什么题目)

(2)Know your audience(了解你的听众)

(3)Know your start and stop times，as well as who else is on(知道你开始和停止的时间以及除你之外还有谁要讲话)

(4)Know what you want people to do differently and tell them(对你所说的和人们所做的有什么不同，心中要有数，并让听众知道)

(5)Make major points.(写下你的讲话要点)

(6)Check all yourequipment，sound，lighting and seating arrangements.(检查你的器材、音响、灯光和座位)

(7)Ask someone you trust and respect to constructively critique you.(请一个你所信任和尊敬的人对你的讲稿提出建设性的批评和意见)

(8)Relax before you go on.(演讲前要放松)

(9)Practise，practise，practise.(练习、练习，再练习)

(10)Remember that even if you miss a bit or forget a couple of lines，nobody knows except you.(记住即或你漏掉一点或忘掉几行，除了你自己，别人是不会发现的)

(11)Omit telling jokes unless you are already a good joke-teller or plan to get better.(收起你想讲的笑话，除非你已经擅长讲笑话或者计划在这方面有所提高)

In order to divide a word add a hyphen (-) typed without a space immediately after the first part of the divided word at the end of the line.

By syllable: Divide the word by syllables or units of sound. For example, important, im-por-tant - 'important' has three syllables; thinking, think-ing - 'thinking' has two syllables

按音节切分。切分时以音节或音素组合为单位切分。比如important, im-por-tant - 因为important这个单词有3个音节。thinking, think-ing - 'thinking' 有两个音节。

By structure: Divide the word into the smaller units of meaning from which the word is constructed. It may have a beginning (a prefix) such as un-, dis-, im-, etc., (im-portant, dis-interested) or an ending (a suffix) such as -able, -fully, (as in desirable, desir-able).

按结构切分。按照组成单词的最小意义单位(词根)来划分。一个单词可能有前缀(如un-, dis-, im-, 等，im-portant, dis-interested)、后缀(如-able，-fully, 如单词desirable中的desire-able。

By meaning: Decide how each part of the divided word is best understood in order that the word is easily recognized from the two parts. For example, compound words such as houseboat made up of two words combined to make a single word, house-boat.

按意义切分。切分单词前，看看单词怎么切分，每部分能理解起来最容易。比如一些组合词，houseboat由两个具有独立意义的单词组成，house和boat。

Here are six further rules to help you decide when and how to divide words.

1. Never divide a word within a syllable.

不要在一个音节里切分单词。

2. Never divide an ending (suffix) of two syllables such as -able or -fully.

不要切分由两个音节组成的后缀。

3. Never divide a word with an ending of two letters such as -ed -er, -ic (exception -ly)

不要切分以-ed, -er, -ic等由两个字母结尾的单词，-ly结尾的单词除外。

4. Never divide a word so that one of the parts is a single letter.

5. Never divide a word of one syllable.

6. Never divide a word of fewer than five letters.

英语演讲，是指以英语为载体，针对某个话题发表自己的意见和看法，以此来影响、感染听众，达到一种宣传目的的交际活动。1、要明确自己是在用英语演讲，要牢记这一点，学会用英文思考!2、要注意发音，尤其是单词的发音。很多人认为这没什么，只要发准就行了，其实不然。单词有一个音节的问题，这是常常忽略的，是几个音节就一定要发出几个音节，这很关键。如：beautiful 这个单词有三个音节，而很多同学只发出了两个，千万要注意。3、演讲时的语气语调以及发音。英语演讲不同于平时说话，英语演讲更强调能用语言打动听众，感染听众的情绪，因此，英语演讲的技巧也包括适当的语气语调以及标准的发音。有些人的英语发音并不标准，语言语调也并不动听，如果想在英语演讲中达到理想的效果的话，在平时一定要勤加练习，通过自己的努力来弥补演讲方面的缺陷。4、表情仪态着装。在正规的英语演讲比赛中，英语演讲者的表情、仪态和着装都是十分重要的。良好的形象能给人赏心悦目的感觉，给自己的英语演讲加分，因此，在参加英语演讲比赛的时候，着装最好要稳重，并且符合个人的气质以及演讲的场合。另外，表情方面不要太过生硬和呆板，能做到声情并茂是最理想的状态。5、演讲时候的姿势、视线、脸部表情。6、声音和腔调。声音和腔调乃是与生俱来的，不可能一朝一夕之间有所改善。不过音质与措词对于整个演说影响颇巨，这倒是事实。根据某项研究报告指出声音低沉的男性比声音高亢的男性，其信赖度较高。因为声音低沉会让人有种威严沉着的感觉。尽管如此，各位还是不可能马上就改变自己的声音。总之，重要的是让自己的声音清楚地传达给听众。即使是音质不好的人，如果能够禀持自己的主张与信念的话，依旧可以吸引听众的热切关注。
