by 和 through 都可以作为介词，有相近的意思，它们的主要区别是 by 用来提及某事的方式方法，而 through 是用于任何过程的介词。如下：

一、by 表示靠近或经过某物，与物体之间是有距离的；而 through 表示从一个地方到另一个地方或穿过一个地点，通常是从地方或地点中间穿过。

二、by 用来提及某事的方法，方式或手段，而 through 用来提及过程，流程或步骤等。

三、by 用来提到一种运输方式，而 through 用来提到一个活动的完成。

用法不同

1、by用法：表示动作者的时候，常用于被动结构。by用于被动结构时，既可以引出施动者，也可用来表示做某事的手段。by表示方式作“凭着”解时，其后常接反身代词; 作“乘”解时，后接交通工具，其前不加冠词。

2、through用法：through表示动作是在三维空间进行的，四面八方都有东西。through则表示从某个空间“穿过”，涉及“体”的概念。
