有时候我出差的时候，会上午到达酒店。我去酒店前台询问是不是可以提前办理入住，如果他们有空余房间，一般会给我办理，如果有客人还没有退房，我就把我的包寄存在前台，然后出去办事。
下面一段对话就是涉及到提前入住的问题。

C: Welcome to the Old Town Hotel. What can I do for you?
M: I know check-in is at 3:00 p.m., but I was wondering if I could check in early.
C: I’m sorry. Our check-in policy is fairly strict, and I’m afraid your room isn’t ready yet.
M: I see. Could I leave my luggage with you at least?
C: Certainly. ( Gives Mia a small card ) Be sure to hold on to this claim ticket . I’ll put a tag on your suitcase in a moment.

1、walk up to（sb/sth）:朝...走去。这个词组可walk to这个词组做一个比较。walk to的意思是“用走的方式去哪里”，强调的是走，而walk up to是强调的方向。
2、check in，办理入住，登记。这个词组可以同时作为名词和动词使用，名词的形式一般是check-in。另外check in 也可以作为机场办理登记使用，办理登记手续的柜台“the check-in desk/counter”。我们在机场也会听到广播“Please check in at least an hour before departure.”对应的check out（of...）是结账离开的意思，名词是checkout。
3、fairly，一定地，相当地。从表达程度上讲，fairly语气比较委婉，quite比fairly语气稍微强一点，pretty和rather的语气就更强了一点。
4、luggage，行李（不可数名词）。在北美地区更常用的是baggage。hand luggage是手提行李的意思。还有一个单词是belongings，意思是“动产，个人财产”，尤其指随身物品。我们也经常听到广播“Please make sure you have all your belongings with you when leaving the plane.”
5、claim ticket，行李票。也可以表达为claim tag，tag也有标签的意思。
6、in a moment，立刻，马上。英语中一个非常常用的缩写“ASAP”，As Soon As Possible，是尽快的意思，经常出现在邮件、短信中。
