荷兰 的全称，应为The Kingdom of the Netherlands，即荷兰王国(The Kingdom of the Netherlands)。由四个部分组成：荷兰本土（the Netherlands）、阿鲁巴、库拉索和荷属圣马丁。除了本土荷兰，其他三个部分都在加勒比地区。荷兰本土（the Netherlands）共有12个省份，其中包括北荷兰省（Noord Holland）和南荷兰省（Zuid Holland）。
北荷兰省（Noord Holland）、南荷兰省（Zuid Holland），其实才是真正的Holland 地区，是荷兰人口密度的地区，首都阿姆斯特丹和政治中心海牙就分别位於北、南荷兰两个省份，Holland 地区也就当之无愧，成了国家的政经中心。
Dutch，就很好理解啦！就像China是中国，Chinese指中国人、汉语一样。Netherlands指的是荷兰，Dutch则指荷兰人、荷兰语。
