stand在这里是“承受，受得了的意思”，stand the way不是一个短语，应该是stand 动词，这个动词的宾语是the way ，和后面的david controls the conversation连载一起：i really can not stand (the way david controls the conversation)all the time......我实在是受不了david，所有的谈话都是他想怎样就怎样。如果他也参加你的圣坛聚会的话，那我就不去了
