说明

1、许多序数词是由相应的基数词后加th构成的，如：four / fourth，six / sixth，ten / tenth，sixteen / sixteenth，但是nine变为序数词是ninth，而不是nineth。

2、twentieth, thirtieth, fortieth等表示整十的序数词，由相应的基数词将词尾y改为ie，再加th构成。

3、first, second, third通常可缩写为1st, 2nd, 3rd。凡是以th结尾的序数词可缩写为“基数词＋th”：4th, 5th, 9th, 11th, 60th, 128th等。

4、非整十的多位数，将个位数变成序数词即可：twenty-first(第21)，thirty-sixth(第36)，ninety-ninth(第99)，three hundred and sixty-fifth(第365)等。

1到20的英语序数词：

（1）1到30：first，second，third，fourth，fifth，sixth，seventh，eighth，ninth，tenth。

（2）11到20：eleventh，twelfth，thirteenth，fourteenth，fifteenth，sixteenth，seventeenth，eighteenth，nineteenth，twentieth。

（3）其中1st，2nd，3rd为特殊形式，其它的都是阿拉伯数字后加th（以1，2，3结尾是st，nd，rd。 e.g.：twenty-first，21st）。

序数词前不用the的情况：

1、当序数词前有形容词性物主代词或名词所有格修饰时，序数词前不用 the。例句：

（1）Mother was my first teacher in my life.妈妈是我生命中的第一个老师。

（2）Tom is Lily's third boyfriend. 汤姆是莉莉的第三个男朋友。

2、当表达分数时，序数词前不用 the。例句：

（1）One fifth of the students here are from the country. 这儿1/5的学生来自农村。

（2）Three fourths of the students here are from the country. 这儿的3/4的学生来自农村。

3、当表达“又一，再一”时，序数词前不用 the，但可加不定冠词。例句：

（1）Please give me a second chance. 请再给我一次机会。

（2）The poor woman had a third baby. 那个可怜的妇女又生了第三个宝宝。

4、当表达“年月日”时，序数词前不用the。例句：

He was born on June 6th, 1974. 他出生在1974年6月6日。

5、当序数词在句中作状语时，序数词前不用 the。例句：

（1）Who got there second? 谁第二个到那儿的？

（2）I finished the work first. 我最先完成那项工作。

6、当表达比赛中获得的名次时，序数词前不用 the。例句：

She stands first in her class. 她在班上成绩排名第一。

7、当表示某人的多少岁 生日时，序数词前不加the。例句：

Mary's twelfth birthday.玛丽的十二岁生日。
