全国大学生英语竞赛是一种考察大学生英语综合能力的竞赛活动，应该也是算一种学科竞赛的。全国大学生英语竞赛（National English Competition for College Students，简称NECCS）是高等学校大学外语教学指导委员会和高等学校大学外语教学研究会组织的全国唯一一个考查大学生英语综合能力的竞赛活动。本竞赛旨在配合教育部高等教育教学水平评估工作，贯彻落实教育部关于大学英语教学改革和考试改革精神，激发广大学生学习英语的兴趣，促进大学生英语水平的全面提高，选拔并奖励大学英语学习成绩优秀的大学生。竞赛目的：本竞赛旨在配合教育部高等教育教学水平评估工作，贯彻落实教育部关于大学英语教学改革精神，促进大学生英语水平的全面提高，激发广大大学生学习英语的兴趣，鼓励英语学习成绩优秀的大学生。开展此项竞赛活动，有助于全面展示全国各高校大学英语教学水平和教学改革的成果，保证高校教学水平评估有关大学英语教学的各项指标的落实，有助于学生夯实和扩展英语基础知识和基本技能，全面提高大学生英语综合运用能力，推动全国大学英语教学上一个新台阶。

There are both advantages and disadvantages of participating in competitions for different subjects. For one thing,it is helpful for students to develop their interest in various subjects by participating in competitions. In addition, competitions and contests can not only enrich students' knowledge of the subjects,but also cultivate their spirit of constant exploration. For another thing,if not well organised,too many competitions and contests may throw confusion into the order of normal study,which can also have negative effect on students balanced development. What's worse, some competitions and contests might do harm to students' physical and psychological health if they are lost.
