旁听生指无法取得学籍和学位的 在教室内或者教室外听课的学生。当今以大学旁听生居多，一般是为了自学考试、考研等等。

旁听生不等于买进好学校去的学生，买进好学校的学生是坐着听课的，和旁听生有很大的区别。
