It is widely believed that fresh water will never be used up due to its rich resources such as rain, rivers and wells. In fact, such belief is unfortunately wrong and possibly dangerous. As is depicted in the picture, we are facing serious shortage of fresh water, especially in the northern part of China. The land in some areas has become barren and there is no water coming from the pumps. Definitely, the picture reminds us of the serious situation we are confronting.
Short as it is, people still waste it. With the growth of population and industry, the amount of fresh water in use is also growing rapidly. It is estimated that if not controlled, fresh water will be used up by the next century. Another dangerous factor is the water pollution, which aggravates the seriousness of fresh water shortage.
It is no use only being aware of the shortage of fresh water. It is never too late if we act right now. The first important measure is to protect our water resources form being polluted. Educating people to save water in daily life is of similar significance. Techniques such as recycling waste water and converting sea water into drinkable water are especially needed in dry areas. It is only when these measures are put into practice can the shortage of fresh water be solved.

Our Sichuan Province has been suffering from unusually severe earthquakes since May 12th . The affected areas are vast, the economic loss is huge and the suffering of the people is painfully tremendous, so people around the world begin to show support by donating money. Recently there has been a contributions ranking on the web. Our students held a heated discussion on it.
Some students suppose that the amount of the money you donated can not be equated with your love and meanwhile there are various ways to aid the people in the disaster area besides donating money.
On the contrary other students hold the different opinions. They think that the money in donation is a standard which can measure your love. Besides the more money you donate the more help victims can receive, so the more the better.
个人观点一：
As far as I am concerned, how much the money you donate depends on the amount of the income. But the companies and factories should take more social responsibility to help the people rebuild their home, and therefore they should make more contributions. As a saying goes blood is thicker than water, we students should give out our hands without hesitation, and donate our pocket money no matter how much it is as every penny counts and every penny is your expression of love.

As far as I am concerned, it does not matter how much money you donate. The most important thing is to show care and support to the victims of the quake. Donators should take their financial conditions into consideration, while doing charity. In addition, donation should not become a competition. Last but not least, that everyone does a good job in a matter within their own is also a contribution to the disaster areas.
I love eating ice-lolly, no matter in the hot summer or the cold winter. The feelings are so different eating ice-lolly in the two seasons. In summer, the weather is so hot that I don't want to eat anything, except for the ice-lolly. I often buy a lot of ice-lollies in the refrigerater and I usually eat ten bars a day. When the ice water flow into the throat, I feel my whole world is icy and I feel that I am rescured from the hot day. However, in the cold winter, it's so different. Eating ice-lolly in the cold winter will make you feel colder. When you eating, you would shake because of the coldness. It seems that you are frozen. But it's the exciting feeling I like.
