hop与jump的区别。从常用含义尤其对于人的动作来说，hop通常是不及物动词，指单脚跳，类似于儿童玩"跳方格"时的动作，而jump则动作比较大，是用双脚跳或跨越。hop还可以指双足同时跳，比如鸟或蚂蚱的齐足跳，蚂蚱的英文就是hopper。hop作及物动词时，还有跃过的含义，如 He hopped the fence. (他跃过栅栏)，但用得比较少。一般情况下，跳或跳跃通常用jump，而hop多指单脚跳。

to hop is to move in short, often jerky leaps as does a bird, frog or rabbit. Hopping lacks the grace and speed of skipping or bounding, or the energy of leaping and springing.

粗略地讲，hop是“小碎步跳”，jump是“有力量地跳跃”。
