一、连词有下列几类：〔并列连词〕 *等立连词，如 and, not only ... but also*转折连词，如 but, yet*选择连词，如 or, nor, either ... or, neither ... nor〔从属连词〕*引导名词从句，如 that, whether, if*引导状语从句，如 before，after，since，if，because，though二、表示转折关系的有下列几类：*连词，如 but, while, although 等*副词，如 yet, however; nevertheless, whereas, instead 等

常见的表示转折的过渡词有：but，still，yet，however，nevertheless，nonetheless，on the contrary，in spite of，even though等。
1、but意思是：但是，可是。
1）用法：属并列连词表转折，上下分句所述情况相反，用在句中，后不加逗号。如：
Not you but I should be to blame.
应该受到责备的不是你，而是我。
2、while意思是：虽然，尽管，而
1）用法：属并列连词表对比，但程度不及stilll强烈。如：
I like this, while she likes that.
我喜欢这个，而她喜欢那个。
3、yet意思是：而，然而，可是
1）用法：属副词作并列连词用，语气比but强烈，可与与and，but连用。如：
If so you have not yet forgiven.
如果是这样，你还未能学会宽恕。
4、however意思是：可是，然而
1）用法：属副词兼作并列连词用，表转折比but稍松弛，可位于句中首、尾〕用逗号分开。如：
However, to do so, you have to know how.
不过，你必须知道如何来实现。
5、still意思是：仍然
1）用法：属副词作连词用，尽管如此，但仍然如故（常用于后一分句，可以跟逗号）。如：
I am not only one, but still I am one!
我不是唯一的一个，但我仍然是其中一个。
6、though意思是：可是，不过，然而
1）用法：作副词用，一般用在句末。如：
I dare not say anything, though.
不过我什么都不敢说。
