Let us join readers over the last century who have been excited by plain Jane ’s journey of self-discovery.
For a woman who was emotionally, socially and morally repressed for years, any public attention that could have been given to her was more than she could have hoped for. She was able to utilize her own experiences to create something that others could enjoy and she had every right to be proud of that. This woman is the author of Jane Eyre-Charlotte. Her experience was reflected on the character of Jane Eyre. This is what we must accept of Jane Eyre.
The development of Jane Eyre’s character is central to the novel since early childhood, Jane felt exiled and ostracized, and the cruel treatment she received only exacerbated her feeling of alienation. The red-room could be viewed as a symbol of what Jane must overcome in her struggles for freedom, happiness and a sense of belonging. Afraid that she would never find a true sense of home. Jane felt the need to belong somewhere, to find "kin" or at least "kindred spirits". This desire tempered her intense need for autonomy and freedom. In her search of freedom. Jane is in the dilemma of what type of freedom she wanted.Whill Rochester offered her a chance to liberate her passions.Jane came to realize that such freedom could also mean enslsvement. St. John Rivers offered Jane another kind of freedom. He opened to Jane the possibility of exercising her talents fully by working and living with him in India. But Jane eventually realized this freedom would also comstitute a form of imprisonment, because she would be forced to keep her true feelings and her true passions always in check. Jane sesarched love ,not just for romance, but also for a sense of value. She struggled to find a balance between love and freedom. From befinning to end, Jane possessed a sense of dignity and principle, a commitment to justice,a trust in God . In her quest for independence and self-knowledge,Jane escaped Brocklehurst, rejected St.John and came to Rochester only after ensruring that they may marry as equals. Jane’s indenpence and integrity are continually tested through the novel.
All of the reviews appear that Jane is an intelligent, honest ,plain-featured young girl repeatedly succeeded in asserting herself and maintains her principles of justice human and dignity. She also values intellectual and emotional fulfillment.
Nowadays, Jane Eyre has become the typical example of independent females. I wish there will be more Janes among us . No matter we are poor or rich, beautiful or common ,we are all unique, we all can realize our dreams like Jane Eyre.
The topic of my speech is "Improving Our Examination System". I hope you would like it.
It is well known that the examination system we are using now may be a good way to test your memory, but it can tell you nothing about a student's ability.
Once a child begins school, he enters a world of examinations that will determine1 his future and fate2.
The current3 examination system only encourages4 students to memorize what they are taught in class. It doesn’t enable(使能够) them to gain(获得) practical5 knowledge. The students who have high scores in the examinations are not certainly the best ones in their studying.
Some actions must be taken to change our current examination system. There should be some simpler and more efficient6 ways to test a student's true knowledge and ability, and that is what we should do immediately.
Hello everybody, today I am very glad to be here to share with you my ideas of happiness. What is happiness? It is what everyone is longing for. Sometimes happiness would be rather simple. Winning a game is happiness; getting a high grade in the exam is happiness; even now I am standing here giving my speech is somehow also happiness.
However, as far as a person’s whole life is concerned, happiness becomes very complicated(复杂的). Is fortune(财富) success? Is fame(名誉) happiness? Is high social status happiness? No, I don’t think so. Happiness in my mind is the attitude(态度) towards things. Nowadays, in the modern society there are many people who have much money, but the fact is they are not happy. My dictionary defines happy as "lucky" or "fortunate", but I think a better definition of happiness is "the capacity for enjoyment(享受的能力)". The more we can enjoy what we have, the happier we are. It's easy to overlook(忽视) the pleasure we get from loving and being loved, the company of friends, the freedom to live where we please, even good health.
You never know where happiness will turn up(露面) next. When I asked friends what makes them happy, some mentioned seemingly insignificant(微不足道) moments. "I hate shopping," one friend said. "But there's this clerk (职员)who always chats and really cheers me up(给我欢呼声). "
Another friend loves the telephone. "Every time it rings, I know someone is thinking about me. "
We all experience moments like these. Too few of (太多的)us register(记录) them as happiness.
While happiness may be more complex(复杂的) for us, the solution is the same as ever(但是获得幸福的途径永远是一样的'.) Happiness isn't about what happens to us; it's about how we perceive(感知) what happens to us. It's the knack(诀窍) of finding a positive for every negative, and viewing a set-back(挫折) as a challenge. It's not wishing for what we don't have, but enjoying what we do possess(拥有).
So I think happiness is everywhere . ok, this is my understanding about
happiness, and what’s your definition of happiness? At last, Wish you all happy!

As a human being,we have our own life as long as we live in the world which may be happy or not. However, our life teachs us to win over the weakness and challenge ourselves. As our life is empty with challenges.Do you feel tired, facing misunderstaning and so on.In fact,we dont have the reason to blame the so called unfairness. On the contrary,we should be thankful to this which is given by god.The differences between birth and death are formal both of which are worth enjoying.Facing the hardships in our life, never beconfused. And what we should do is to encourage ourselves and go ahead, challenging ourselves.
Only by doing so can we makeourlifecolorful.Thinking of the brilliant future, all of us may be motivated.Facing the cruel realities,we should be confident. We should challenge ourselves as well as our life. The road of life is full of failure, and our life should be described by challenging.Putting our painful tears together and placate our hurt hearts, renewing our forces.Lets do from the start with challenging attitudes.Owning the idea of never giving up and owning a heart never accepting the failure. And we should deal with it no matter how hard it is.Although we may not do the best,we should believe that we can make it.Only by keeping the challenging emotion can we live a better life.
Hello, everybody! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, everybody. All right, everybody go ahead and have a seat. How is everybody doing today? (Applause.) How about Tim Spicer? (Applause.) I am here with students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. And weve got students tuning in from all across America, from kindergarten through 12th grade. And I am just so glad that all could join us today. And I want to thank Wakefield for being such an outstanding host. Give yourselves a big round of applause. (Applause.)
I know that for many of you, today is the first day of school. And for those of you in kindergarten, or starting middle or high school, its your first day in a new school, so its understandable if youre a little nervous. I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now -- (applause) -- with just one more year to go. And no matter what grade youre in, some of you are probably wishing it were still summer and you couldve stayed in bed just a little bit longer this morning.
I know that feeling. When I was young, my family lived overseas. I lived in Indonesia for a few years. And my mother, she didnt have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school, but she thought it was important for me to keep up with an American education. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself, Monday through Friday. But because she had to go to work, the only time she could do it was at 4:30 in the morning.
Now, as you might imagine, I wasnt too happy about getting up that early. And a lot of times, Id fall asleep right there at the kitchen table. But whenever Id complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks and shed say, "This is no picnic for me either, buster." (Laughter.)
So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But Im here today because I have something important to discuss with you. Im here because I want to talk with you about your education and whats expected of all of you in this new school year.
Now, Ive given a lot of speeches about education. And Ive talked about responsibility a lot.
Ive talked about teachers responsibility for inspiring students and pushing you to learn.
Ive talked about your parents responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and you get your homework done, and dont spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with the Xbox.
Ive talked a lot about your governments responsibility for setting high standards, and supporting teachers and principals, and turning around schools that arent working, where students arent getting the opportunities that they deserve.
But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best schools in the world -- and none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities, unless you show up to those schools, unless you pay attention to those teachers, unless you listen to your parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed. Thats what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education.
I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself. Every single one of you has something that youre good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. Thats the opportunity an education can provide.
Maybe you could be a great writer -- maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper -- but you might not know it until you write that English paper -- that English class paper thats assigned to you. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor -- maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or the new medicine or vaccine -- but you might not know it until you do your project for your science class. Maybe you could be a mayor or a senator or a Supreme Court justice -- but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team.
And no matter what you want to do with your life, I guarantee that youll need an education to do it. You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? Youre going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You cannot drop out of school and just drop into a good job. Youve got to train for it and work for it and learn for it.
And this isnt just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. The future of America depends on you. What youre learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.
