John:Hi, Linda. I’m just calling to invite you to a dinner party tomorrow evening。

Linda:Really? What time and where?

John:7:30 pm, at Longding Chinese restaurant. I’ll be at your place at 7:00 to pick you up if you need a ride。

Linda:Yes, please. I’ll need a ride. I’ll be waiting for you then。

John:See you tomorrow at 7:00. Make sure you dress a little formally. I heard the restaurant is kind of upscale。

B: Yes. We want to buy some computer software and talk about developing some another software for special purpose. I don't know whether you are interested or not?

A: I see. Thank you very much, Mr. Wood. Would you wait a moment, please?(to PBX)Mr Hunter, Mr. Wood wants to buy some computer software.

C: I see. Put him on line two.

A: Yes, Mr. Hunter. ( To caller)Mr. Wood, I'm very sorry to have kept you waiting. I'll connect you with Mr. Hunter.

A: Good afternoon, Sales Department. May I help you?

B: Could I speak to Mr. Gao, please?

B: John Smith.

A: Hold the line, please. Mr. Gao is in a meeting with the Managing Director at the moment, I'm afraid. Can I help you?

B: Well, I want to discuss with him the new contract we signed last week.

A: I don't think the meeting will go on much longer. Shall I ask him to call you when he is free?

B: Yes, that would be easiest.

B: Yes. It's John Smith.

You’re speaking/talking to her.

2.打电话的人要找的人不在

A: May I speak to Mr. Gates?

请问Gates 先生在吗?

B: He’s not here right now.

他现在不在这里。

举一反三:

He’s out.

他出去了。

He’s in a meeting right now.

他现在正在开会。

You’ve just missed him.

你刚好错过他了。

He’s just stepped out.

3.打电话的人要找的人不在, 问对方是否要留言

A: Can I talk to Mark?

我可以跟Mark 讲话吗?

B: He’s out on his lunch break right now. Would you like to leave a message?

He’s not available right now. Can I take a message?

4.打电话的人问他要找的人何时回来

A: Do you know when he will be back?

你知道他什么时候会回来吗?

B: I’m sorry. I don’t know.

I have no idea.

He should be back in 20 minutes.

5.打电话的人问他要找的人在哪里

A: Do you have any idea where he is?
