送神迎新
农历12 月24日是“诸路神仙”上天过年的日子，因而在23或24日，潮 汕农村各地，纷纷杀牲蒸馃，为神饯行，这就是“送神”习俗。“送神” 一俗，始于送“灶神”。灶神是谁？东汉许慎《五经异义》说“颛顼有子 曰黎，为祝融，火正也，祀以为灶神。”可见灶神是人们所熟悉的火神祝 融。为上古五祀之一。《礼记·月令》孟夏之月云：“其帝炎帝，其神祝 融……其祀灶。”灶神上天的目的，是向上天“白人罪状，大者夺纪，纪 三百日;小者夺算,算一百日。”（唐·段成式《西阳杂俎·诺皋记上》） 因此，人间百众，为了让灶神上天后为自己说好话，让天帝保佑自己发财 致富、平安长寿，便于“其日，并以豚酒祭灶神。”由此可见，“送神”之俗源于上述之“送灶神”。先祖们从中原把这 习俗带到潮汕之后，并使之“有过之而无不及”，在这一天连同其他诸路 神仙一齐送上天去了。
