“真理”（Veritas)。
最早校训是“Veritas Christoet Ecclesiae”，英文为“Truth for Christ and the Church”，意为“追求基督教与教会意义上的真”。
后来，随着哈佛的世俗化以及与宗教脱离关系，这句话也就自然而然地简化成了一个词——Veritas。这个词经常被人翻译为“真理”，它不仅是“真理”，也有“真实”、“真相”等意思。 在哈佛，在知识、世界、社会、人类等种种领域追求“真理”、“真实”和“真相” 乃是永恒的目标。

哈佛大学校徽为传统盾形，寓意坚守、捍卫；底色为哈佛标准色“绯红”。
主体部分以三本书为背景，两本面向上，一本面向下，象征着理性与启示之间的动力关系。上面的两本书上，分别刻有“VE”和“RI”两组字母，与下面一本书共同构成校训中的“VERITAS”，“VERITAS”在拉丁文中即“真理”
校区
哈佛大学占地85公顷的本部坐落于剑桥市的哈佛庭院上，庭院位于波士顿商业区西北方约5.5公里处。里面包括了中央行政办公署及大学中央图书馆，另也有数栋学术大楼，如大学学堂、纪念教堂和新生宿舍等。
共有十二所住宿大楼给大学生，九所位于哈佛庭院的南部，靠近查尔斯河；剩余的则在庭院的西北方，那里原本是以前拉德克利夫学院的学生宿舍，直到两者合并使用同一的住宿政策为止。校园附近有公交车及铁路等交通运输服务，供学生教员们穿梭校园。
哈佛大学的商学院及大多数的体育设施均处于波士顿的西边，占地145公顷。

校徽上的拉丁语单词 veritas，意思是“真理”，也可理解为“求真”。校训则是：Amicus Plato, Amicus Aristotle, sed Magis Amicus VERITAS.（拉丁文）一个单词对一个单词翻译的话，意思是“柏拉图（是我的）朋友，亚里士多德（是我的）朋友，但是真理最（是我的）朋友。”这句校训常常翻译为“与柏拉图为友，与亚里士多德为友，更要与真理为友”。出处是：柏拉图是亚里士多德的老师，亚里士多德的观点与其老师有所不同，于是他就说了一句后来成为名言的话“吾爱吾师，吾更爱真理”。哈佛的校训就是出自这个典故。
