trash、rubbish、litter都可以，都是指日常生活的垃圾，一般意义的垃圾。
junk也是垃圾的意思，是指没有营养比如junk food（垃圾食品），就是一些零食。

garbage，rubbish，waste，refuse，trash，litter都可表示垃圾。Rubbish指明为干废料，如报纸、木料、罐头等。Garbage常指湿的或有机物质，如剩余食物、腐肉杂物。
Refuse、trash、waste是指上面两种废品，加上工业废品、建造废料、街道垃圾。Refuse亦指所有固体废料、阴沟残余，甚至于遗弃车辆、冰箱。而随手丢的纸屑、果皮等杂物则可用litter表示。
