其实,英语中的这个词“Tsunami”是从日语中来的。主要原因:1946年に起きたアリューシャン地震の际、日系移民が用いたことからハワイで「Tsunami」の语が使われるようになり、アメリカでも広く用いられるようになったため、「Tsunami(津波)」は国际语となった。英语にも「津波」を表す「tidal wave」という语があるにもかかわらず「Tsunami」が用いられるのは、上记経纬のほかに、「tidal」は「潮」を意味する言叶であり、津波が満干によって起こる现象ではないためと考えられる。这是“津波”这个词的由来。上面大概说的是,1946年阿留申群岛发生地震的时候,当地的日本移民说的“Tsunami”这个词就在夏威夷被使用了,再由于在美国被广泛使用了之后,“Tsunami(津波)”这个词就被国际化了。尽管在英语中表示“津波”这个意思的说法有“tidal wave”,但是“Tsunami”这个词也在被使用。原因不光是上面讲的,还有就是“tidal wave”中的“tidal”是海潮的意思,而“津波”所表达的现象不是有潮汐所引起的。
