Great changes have taken piace in people's life in past 20 years.

In the past , people kept in touch with relatives or friends mainly bu sending letters . They would listen to the radio for news and other programmes on TV.

Some families are rich enough to send their chilren to school in their own cars.More and more peoplelive in big and bright aprtments with several rooms.

In a word ,people live better than before .

There have been many changes in my life. With the development of the economy my life is better off. For the clothing I have spare money to buy sorts of pretty clothes. But in the past there were fewer clothes in my wardrobe. For the food I usually had traditional Chinese food for every meal rice noodles or streamed ban with one or two light dishes even preserved pickles. Nowadays I can afford any delicious food including western foods. For the housing I have moved from a cramped and gloomy room to a big and bright flat. For the getting around I rode an old bike on my way to work a year ago. At present I drive my private car to travel. I believe my life will be better and better in the future.

What is shown in the table above indicates that dramatic changes have taken lace in the people's daily expenses in Xi'an from 20XX to 20XX. The expenses on food have declined by 30% while those on clothing and recreation have increased respectivily by 9% and 7%. The statistics of rise and fall seem to exist in isolation but closely related to one another.

There are two factors accounting for these changes. Development in economy is an essential one in the five years. The increased income resulting from economic growth plays an important part in the leexpense on food. Hence, a small percentage of total income is enough to cover food expense. Another one is the changes in life style. When foods presents no worry to the average, people begin to focus more of interest on handsome appearance and happy leisure time. As a result of such a shift, spending on clothing and recreation increased year after year.From Joozone .

From the analyses made above, we may come to the conclusion that people's living standards in Xi'an have been constantly improved between 20XX and 20XX. With the further growth in economy and more changes in life style, the tendency indicated in the table will continue in the table will continue in the better direction.
