吸管是可以由塑料、纸、竹、金属、玻璃或可食用的材料。
吸管（英语：drinking straw），根据英文直译为麦管，或称饮管，是圆柱状，中空的。早期使用麦秆等多为天然产物，通常用于吸酒。现今采塑料押出成型技术，透过机台将热融性塑料押出一条连续性的薄管，再裁切出需要的长度。
其主要功用是用来吸取杯子中饮料，也有用来吸食一些烹饪好的动物长骨的骨髓。一般直径在0.5厘米左右，但是用来吸食酸奶、珍珠奶茶等饮品时，会用较粗的吸管，有的直径有1.5厘米。

原理
管主要利用大气压来实现，在大气环境下，当吸管一端插入液体，另一端抽走吸管中的空气或液体后，管内压强降低至低于大气环境的压强，使吸管外部大气压强作用于管外液体表面，将液体推进吸管中以使管内压力与管外气压平衡。
历史
19世纪，美国人喜欢喝冰凉的淡香酒，为了避免口中的热气减低了酒的冰冻劲，因此喝时不用嘴直接饮用，而以中空的天然麦杆来吸饮，可是天然麦杆容易折断，它本身的味道也会渗入酒中。
当时，美国有一名烟卷制造商马文 史东，从烟卷中得到灵感，制造了一支纸吸管。试饮之下，既不会断裂，也没有怪味。从此，人们不只在喝淡香酒时使用吸管，喝其他冰凉饮料时，也喜欢使用纸吸管。
