Sword，就是剑，不是刀。
Knife，小刀，比其他的都小很多的刀，很锋利的，称为knife，可以理解为匕首。
Blade， 大刀，上说的是单刃大刀，比sword要大。

刀 KNIFE，SWORD，BLADE，EDGED WEAPON（KNIFE泛指短刀及匕首，SWORD泛指长刀和剑，BLADE泛指各种刀剑，EDGED WEAPON是法律上对于刃器的称呼）。
砍刀 MACHETE（指各种开山刀，和作为武器的剑相区别）。
军刀 SABER（指旧时的那种细长的西洋单手刀，比如指挥刀）。
剑 SWORD（英语以长短分类刀剑，不像中国以单双刃分类。比如中国的抗日大砍刀英语里叫CHINESE WAR SWORD）。
武士刀 KATANA（打刀，最常用），WAKISASHI（胁差，日式的短剑），TANTO（日式短刀）JAPANESE SWORD，SAMURAI SWORD（除了一些统称，大部分基本都是日文读音的英语拼写）。
