比较多用的是strait和channel，不过很多是固定搭配来的。台湾海峡的话就是用strait，两岸关系叫“cross－strait relation”。欧洲也有Strait of Dover (多佛尔海峡）。而英吉利海峡则是“English Channel”，也叫“La Manche”（“拉芒什”海峡）其他的搭配还有：Fehmarn Belt，费马恩海峡Canal de Tunis，突尼斯海峡
