1、意思不同
supervisor指的是研究生导师。
instructor 指的是指导员或者是非授课导师。
mentor指的是人生的导师。
例句：
（1）Each student has a supervisor to advise on the writing of the dissertation.
每个学生都有导师指导他们写论文。
（2）My instructor and I had a brief disagreement.
我和我的导师有过一次小摩擦。

2、侧重不同
supervisor更多的是监督督促，含有监督者的意思，不会那么重的参与到对学生的指导中。
instructor侧重于对学生知识的指导。
mentor偏重精神上的指导。
3、关系亲密度不同
supervisor一般多为上下级的关系，关系不亲密。
instructor可以理解为关系比较一般的普通任课老师。
mentor是有带过你做某件事情或某个project的人，mentor可以是师兄师姐，也可以是一些老师，甚至实验室的助理，RA 或者TA；
