书面语,是指人们在书写和阅读文章时所使用的语言,文字为其主要组成部分。它是在口语的基础上发展来的,是在文字产生之后才出现的,因此也只有识字的人才认识书面语。并不是所有的民族都有书面语。
范规(书面语接受对象广泛,且有较大差异,所以必须规范)﹔确切(书面语一定要确切,不得含糊其辞、模棱两可)﹔严谨(书面语言必须严谨,尽量减少疏漏)。
范规:口头语言交际对象相对固定,人数也较少,方式灵活,即或出现一些不规范的语言现象,仍不大妨碍交流;文章所使用的书面语言,接受对象要广泛得多,且有较大差异,所以必须规范。
确切:口头交际可用多种辅助手段,如声音的变化,面部表情和动作表情等,而书面交际几乎全要靠语言文字,所以书面语言一定要确切,不得含糊其辞、模棱两可。
严谨:口头交际时若说不清或说错了,可以随时补充、修正,而书面交际是以固定化的书面语言即文章来完成的,很难补充、修正,除非文章和书籍再版、重新发表或者附加勘误表。所以书面语言必须严谨,尽量减少疏漏。
