鸬鹚是捕鱼能手。
渔民外出捕鱼时常带上驯化好的鸬鹚。鸬鹚整齐地站在船头，各自脖子上都被戴上一个脖套。当渔民发现鱼时，他们一声哨响，鸬鹚便纷纷跃入水中捕鱼。由于带着脖套，鸬鹚捕到鱼却无法吞咽下去，它们只好叼着鱼返回船边。
主人把鱼夺下后，鸬鹚又再次下潜去捕鱼。在遇到大鱼时，几只鸬鹚会合力捕捉。它们有的啄鱼眼，有的咬鱼尾、有的叼鱼鳍，配合得非常默契。待捕鱼结束后，主人摘下鸬鹚的脖套，把准备好的小鱼赏给它们吃。这种捕鱼方式非常有趣，也非常有效。
