这个词还真是非常的中国特色。一般（正式的）翻译都是unpretentious或unostentatious。 但个人认为稍不符合原意。 踏实的含义是：非常实际，一点都不浮躁。即不做某种炫耀。 起始有双重含义： ① 态度上是认真的，不是为了秀，目的明确。② 行为上是很实际的， 很小心谨慎。上面的unpretentious，unostentatious都着重了不炫耀，但对②的含义不够。 有另外两个词更符合“踏实”：a) premeditated = Characterized by deliberate purpose, previous consideration, and some degree of planningb) deliberate = carefullyweighedorconsidered; leisurelyandsteadyinmovement oraction;slowandeven;unhurried.都表示有目的性的思考， 然后制定计划并实施。 deliberate的程度强于premeditated， 后者常被译成“预谋”， 其实英语很多词是中性的，premeditated在思想和行动上平衡的最好； deliberate更强调是深思熟虑。
