介词besides，except，except for，but，apart from 和 in addition to 在用法上有何区别？ besides 和 in addition to 同义，表示“除……之外(还)……”。但是，当与nothing，nobody或no one等否定意义的不定代词连用时，besides与except同义，表示“除…之外(其余都不)”。例如： She knows Japanese besides English. In addition to English, she knows Japanese. 区别一：包括的内容不同

1、 except 表示“除去，不包括”，强调所排除的“不包括在内”，一般表示同类之间的关系. 也就是说，except的前后是同一种事物。

例如：You can have any of the cakes except this one. 除了这块蛋糕，你哪块都能吃。 这句话中，“被排除的”（即跟在except后面的名词）也是蛋糕，和except前的词是同种东西。

He gets up early every day except Sunday. 除了周日，他每天都早起。周日也是每天中的一部分，是同种事物被排除在外。

2、 except for用于非同类事物，它的宾语与前述对象完全是两回事。即"从整体中除去一个细节”。

例如：The room was very cold and, except for Jack, entirely empty.这个房间很阴冷，而且除了杰克，完全是空荡荡的。

Except for John, the whole class passed the test. 全班同学除约翰外，全都通过了考试。

3、besides强调"除此之外，还包括"，并没有将besides后的主体排除在外。即besides后面的主体是前面主体的一部分，强调的是除了...以外还有。

例如：She can speak French and Japanese besides English.除英语外，她还会讲法语和日语。这句话并没有否认她会讲英语，只是强调了她会英语以外的另外两种语言。

区别二：搭配的词性不同

虽然“except”和“except for”都表示“除去…之外”或“不包括”的意思，但并不能任意互换。首先，搭配“except for”的后面只能接名词和名词短语，而“except”的后面既可以接名词、名词短语，也可以接从句、介词短语甚至动词。

例如：You are allowed to smoke everywhere except in the lobby.

你可以在除大堂以外的任何地方抽烟。

在上面的这几个例句中，我们不能用“except for”来替代“except”，这是因为只有在“except”后面才能接从句，而“except for”后不能接从句。我们只能在“except for”后加名词或名词短语。

单词“besides”在句子中单独使用的时侯有“而且，何况”的意思，表示语意的递进。

区别三：应用在句子中位置的不同

当except用在句首时往往改用except for。

例如:There was no single person in the dark street that night except a policeman on his duty.

1．先说except（but）与besides的区别：前者表示"除了……之外（不再有……）"，表示的是一种排除的关系；后者表示"除了……之外（还有……）"，表示的是一种累加关系： Besides his wife，his daughter also went to see him． I go to school every day except [but] Sunday． 但是以上区别通常只限于肯定句中，在否定句或疑问句中besides也可以表示"除……外，不再有……"（＝except）： No one passed the exam besides [except，but] Jim．除吉姆外，没一个人通过考试。 2．再说except与but的区别：一般说来，前者用法较广，后者用法较窄。事实上，在现代英语中，but的用法十分有限，通常只能用在no（及其复合词），any（及其复合词），every（及其复合词），all，none，who，what，where等之后。一般说来，若没有出现上述词汇，就不宜用but。如通常不说：The window is never opened but in summer（可用except）。 3．except，but一般不用于句首，但besides可用于句首。 4．关于but for与except for：前者表示"若不是"，通常与虚拟语气连用；后者表示"除外"，指不同类比较。
