gender主要用于填表的时候询问性别, 较书面化 sex是常用词, 可以做名词, 动词等, 用法较多

1、含义不同

性(sex)指的是我们生理上的女性特征或男性特征。生物学意义上的性包含两个部分：遗传学意义上的性，这取决于我们的性染色体；人体解剖学意义上的性，这体现在男女两性身体上的明显差异。

性别(gender)这个术语或概念，则包含了人的行为、社会建构的角色，以及通常所指的男性或女性的心理属性。

2、属性不同

gender强调的是性别的社会属性，学者们通常把生物学上男女的区别称为sex，它分为male和female，一个X染色体加一个Y就是男性(male)；拥有两个X染色体就是女性（female），这是不会改变的客观标准。

sex强调的是生物属性。文化上的区分用gender这个词，分为man和woman，这个概念就复杂很多。

3、范围不同

sex包含生物性、心理性和社会性，既具有社会性，也具有文化性，不会显露出纯自然属性。

gender相比，概括范围更全面，特别包括了具有特殊性身份、性取向的人群。
