As to take part in the speech competition, I prepared much for a month. Firstly, I asked my English teacher about her advice to my topic. Then, I searched the Internet for the material. Also, I asked for help to perfect my speech after I have finished it. At last, I recited and practised my performance before my classmates again and again. With the competition day coming. I got more and more nervous. And myparents kept encouraging me. When I stepped on the stage. I was frightened at first. Then I saw my parents and other helping people, and then I became confident. Finally, I have got the champion. I was so happy and so gateful for the ones who had helped me.

In the evening before, I repeated those words to get ready. Finally I could not get sleep. On that day, standing in front of the audience, my legs were shaking. And I heard my voice was trembling. My mentor smiled to encourage me. When I relaxed, I recalled the words. When finishing, my speaking was getting fluent. The audience applauded loudly. I saw my friends were standing up, showing they were proud of me. Since then I’ve begun to like public speaking.

Last week, I took part in an English speech contest which was held by our teachers. There were twelve students in the final contest. I was one of them. Fifteen minutes before my turn, I picked my topic and prepared for it. I wrote down the outlines and organized what I was going to say. However, when I stood in front of all judges and students, I was extremely nervous. My mind was totally empty. Then I took a deep breath to relax myself and started my speech. The result was not as good as I expected, but I preferred to regard it as a challenge to myself, whose process was the most important for me. I can learn a lot from this contest. I am sure I will be better next time.
